$5,400 for Naung’s education at Peace Corps Connect

Are you in the Washington, D.C. area? If so, come by George Washington University this weekend to see Zomia make its tabling debut. We will be raising funds for Zomia student Naung’s degree at the 2017 Peace Corps Connect Conference!

Peace Corps Connect

Conference programming and registration

Peace Corps Connect is an annual, multi-day conference hosted by the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA). The conference brings together the Peace Corps community to “connect, advocate, and impact.” This year, NPCA expects over 1,000 attendees to attend the conference at George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Where and when to find us

We’ll be in the “Exhibitor Hall” of Marvin Center at George Washington University during the following hours:

Friday, September 23 — 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Saturday, September 24 — 7:30 AM – 1:15 PM

Can’t make it to the conference?

You can join us on Facebook Live Saturday, September 24 at 1:00 PM EST. We will give viewers a tour of the conference, recap conference highlights, and announce the final amount raised for Naung’s loan. Join the broadcast from the Zomia Facebook page.

Help fund Naung’s education

We issued a challenge to conference attendees to help Naung raise the cost of her degree—if 216 people lent $25 to Naung by the end of the conference, her education would be fully funded. Any loans made to Naung this weekend will be included in the total amount raised.

Naung, a Zomia student whose education participants at Peace Corps Connect will attempt to raise.

Due to financial difficulties, it took three years for Naung to enroll in college. She’s now nearly finished with her bachelor’s degree and hopes to become a teacher in eastern Myanmar.
